Utah Valley Marathon, June 11

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run a marathon in 2011 and one day run Boston....I might have to wait until I'm in the 85 year old division to qualify but gosh darn it I will qualify!  

Personal:

 David and I have been married since 2003, we've lived in AZ, UT (BYU, Health Science), WI and now we're back to our roots in CO. We have a little boy, Grant, who was born in 2009. I have never been a runner but like to pretend I am! I'm currently teaching aerobics in my church group and working on becoming a certified Personal Trainer through NASM. 

I'm pretty much obsessed with Full House, DQ Blizzards and Bajio. Sadly I don't have enough of these in my life!

3 miles on the treadmill. Man it's cold here! I really REALLY didn't feel like walking over to the gym (like 100 yards away...I'm a weenie!) to run but I'm so glad I did. I NEVER regret working out but I ALWAYS regret NOT working out! 

20 mins on bike.....boy oh boy I love having a bike- and one I can't fall off of either:)

Two miles on the treadmill. I've decided to run the Utah Valley Marathon instead of the SCL marathon. I kind of took this week off from running...apparently I didn't take it off from eating! Yikes!!! I'm hoping to enter this marathon with a new view on running. I'm very determined to eat healthier and stretch a little more. It's been nice to teach aerobics twice a week-builds my strength and endurance while having fun and getting some cross training in! It's been snowing like nobody business over here. Blah! This better be the last time it snows in 2011 because I can honestly say that I think the treadmill hates me worse than I do him! Oh well!

Day 1 of marathon training. I made some goals and hung them on the mirror.....one was to not eat as much processed foods and limit my sugar intake. Well David is at the store buying ice-cream right now so I guess day 1 is not as successful and I had hoped;) 

3 miles on the treadmill. I tried to so some speed work but I honestly have no clue what I'm doing, I'm also terrified of getting injured. I have been enjoying running lately and I'm sure that means an injury is just around the corner!

Taught aerobics this morning, did an ab video and another aerobic video at home later in the afternoon.

3 miles on the treadmill. I am a little sore from aerobics yesterday-so that's a good sign right? I am going to a personal training conference this weekend, I'm excited for all the new things I'm going to learn. I wish the snow would melt and I could run outside without slipping on the ice.

I took advantage of the nice weather today! I felt like quitting after 1 mile but reminded myself (over and over!) that if I didn't run my miles today I would have to run them on Saturday and probably on the treadmill! Talk about a great motivator! Once again not a fast pace by any stretch of the imagination but I did it. I'm trying to not get discouraged about my times but it's hard to consider myself a runner when 80 year olds are passing me up! Oh well. I'm planning on riding my bike today while Grant naps (fingers crossed!) and then I have CPR training from 6-10:30. Yikes that's a long ol' time to be sitting in a chair trying to stay awake;) I've also started a food journal like I did in college. I'm excited to see how my eating effects my running and hopefully I can make some good changes.

David is taking the GMAT exam for grad school this morning!!! Fingers crossed! I was really proud of him for getting up early and getting a run in before he left....oh and proud that he's taking the exam;) I'm super duper excited because we're going out to eat tonight either to a.) celebrate his success or b.) eat away our sorrows!

I've been up since 5:30 with a sick little boy, I managed to squeeze in my run though. He's been sleeping in my arms on and off today so I think I'll just enjoy the cuddle time while he lets me!

I love getting my run in before all of my other tasks for the day. I had to be at the church this morning from 8-11 and it was too windy and cold to run before. I was able to squeeze in my run just before the BYU game. It's in the high 50's today and was perfect....a little more windy than I would care for but still very nice!
