Run a marathon in 2011 and one day run Boston....I might have to wait until I'm in the 85 year old division to qualify but gosh darn it I will qualify!
Personal:
David and I have been married since 2003, we've lived in AZ, UT (BYU, Health Science), WI and now we're back to our roots in CO. We have a little boy, Grant, who was born in 2009. I have never been a runner but like to pretend I am! I'm currently teaching aerobics in my church group and working on becoming a certified Personal Trainer through NASM. I'm pretty much obsessed with Full House, DQ Blizzards and Bajio. Sadly I don't have enough of these in my life! Favorite Blogs: |

| | Taught aerobics this morning. I had a blast! I hope everyone had fun! Ran 3 miles on the TM when David was home for lunch. |
| | Ran outside. man this was a tough run for some reason. I just never felt like I was in a good running groove. Slow and my legs hurt from trying to not slip on the ice! 1-10:10 (blah!) 2-9:40 3-9:45 4-9:25 |
| | Wow this was NOT a pretty run! I did it, but man alive it was a struggle. My lungs felt fine but my knee gave me some pain around mile 5-9 and the ball of my left foot as been bothering me for a few days, only when I run. It was SSOOOO icy out and I think that's why my body is hurting-I'm trying to not only run without dying but I'm trying to keep my balance and I'm using other muscles to keep me upright on the streets. It wasn't terribly cold out which was great but the ice is just so frustrating, I felt like I was walking half of the time! The sun is out now so hopefully it will continue to melt, although there is supposed to be more snow this weekend. Blah! 1-10:07 2-10:00 3-10:08 4-10:19 5-10:25 6-10:19 7-11:01 (yuck!) 8-10:57 (eek!) 9-10:24 I've been teaching aerobics twice a week and I'm loving it! I plan on riding my bike for 30 mins tonight. |
| | Ran outside, roads were clear. Enjoyable run. |
| | SNOW SNOW SNOW!!!! And boy howdy is there a lot of it! I ran 3 miles on the treadmill while David was home for lunch. I really want a gym membership. I love the gym atmosphere and think it would help me get a job as a PT if I knew the staff a little better. Off to watch The Office while Grant sleeps. Productive? Probably not:) |
| | Ran 5 miles on the tm while David was home for lunch. I'm thinking about asking them to put a fan in there. Dang it gets HOT! I had an enjoyable time running and tried varying my speeds. |
| |
It felt like spring out today! I loved it! Still icy in a few spots but overall very nice roads. My left knee was kind of bothering me around mile 8-10 but it ended up being fine once I got home. I'm hoping that I can beat my marathon time but I'm realizing that I'm just not quite fast enough yet! 1-9:08 2-9:39 3-9:25 4-9:27 5-9:34 6-9:36 7-9:52 8-10:12 (bummer) 9-10:03 10-9:10

| | It is so unbelievably nice outside! I love running in this type of weather! I tried picking up the pace a little, it was kind of windy but overall fun. I also taught aerobics this morning, fun fun! 1-8:43 2-8:32 3-8:11 3.1= 26:11 |

I'm headed to Utah tomorrow so I needed to do my long run today. My legs were super tight from aerobics yesterday (weakling I know!) so I was a little worried about running today, it actually felt great to run/stretch them. I went during lunch and this was such a fun run, great weather, great roads etc. I am feeling better about my times, still a LOT of room for improvement but I'm getting there! 1- 8:49 2-9:04 3-9:05 4-9:08 5-9:07 6-9:02 7-8:46 Off to make cupcakes for David's birthday tomorrow!!! mmmm.....
| | I've been in Utah for the last few days so today was my first day in like a week doing any sort of activity. It felt nice to be outside. I've been looking through my past years of running. I'm going to try to complete the SLC marathon in April and hopefully run it in under 4 hours. I think I can get my times to do that, I'm just worried about starting out too fast and needing to take bathroom breaks etc. Hopefully I can keep running injury free and really be able to focus on this goal. 1-9:14 2-9:18 3-8:36 |
| |
| | This run felt pretty easy, I'm coming down with a cold. I need some new tunes though! A little tight from aerobics yesterday. 1-9:16 2-9:10 3-9:21 4-9:34 5-9:20 6-8:59 |
| |
Once again, not a pretty run but you know what- I did it and I didn't have to walk! 1-9:10 2-9:28 3-9:31 4-9:29 5-9:52 6-9:49 7-9:44 8-10:07 9-9:54 10-10:15 11-10:11 12-9:52

| | Ran on the treadmill tonight. |
| | 3 miles on the treadmill. Man it's cold here! I really REALLY didn't feel like walking over to the gym (like 100 yards away...I'm a weenie!) to run but I'm so glad I did. I NEVER regret working out but I ALWAYS regret NOT working out! 20 mins on bike.....boy oh boy I love having a bike- and one I can't fall off of either:) |
| | Two miles on the treadmill. I've decided to run the Utah Valley Marathon instead of the SCL marathon. I kind of took this week off from running...apparently I didn't take it off from eating! Yikes!!! I'm hoping to enter this marathon with a new view on running. I'm very determined to eat healthier and stretch a little more. It's been nice to teach aerobics twice a week-builds my strength and endurance while having fun and getting some cross training in! It's been snowing like nobody business over here. Blah! This better be the last time it snows in 2011 because I can honestly say that I think the treadmill hates me worse than I do him! Oh well! |
| | Day 1 of marathon training. I made some goals and hung them on the mirror.....one was to not eat as much processed foods and limit my sugar intake. Well David is at the store buying ice-cream right now so I guess day 1 is not as successful and I had hoped;) 3 miles on the treadmill. I tried to so some speed work but I honestly have no clue what I'm doing, I'm also terrified of getting injured. I have been enjoying running lately and I'm sure that means an injury is just around the corner! Taught aerobics this morning, did an ab video and another aerobic video at home later in the afternoon. |
| | treadmill treadmill treadmill.....blah! |
| | 3 miles on the treadmill. I am a little sore from aerobics yesterday-so that's a good sign right? I am going to a personal training conference this weekend, I'm excited for all the new things I'm going to learn. I wish the snow would melt and I could run outside without slipping on the ice. |
| | Wow what a nice day out! I took Grant in the stroller today-he was so excited to be outside. Taught aerobics this morning. 1-9:36 2-9:26 3-8:58 |
| | Another gorgeous run outside! 1-9:00 2-8:45 3-8:13 (loved that last mile!) |
| |
I took advantage of the nice weather today! I felt like quitting after 1 mile but reminded myself (over and over!) that if I didn't run my miles today I would have to run them on Saturday and probably on the treadmill! Talk about a great motivator! Once again not a fast pace by any stretch of the imagination but I did it. I'm trying to not get discouraged about my times but it's hard to consider myself a runner when 80 year olds are passing me up! Oh well. I'm planning on riding my bike today while Grant naps (fingers crossed!) and then I have CPR training from 6-10:30. Yikes that's a long ol' time to be sitting in a chair trying to stay awake;) I've also started a food journal like I did in college. I'm excited to see how my eating effects my running and hopefully I can make some good changes. 1- 9:22 2-9:17 3-9:29 4-9:34 5-9:25 6-9:37 7-8:56 *30 minutes on the bike while reviewing flashcards....
| |
| | David is taking the GMAT exam for grad school this morning!!! Fingers crossed! I was really proud of him for getting up early and getting a run in before he left....oh and proud that he's taking the exam;) I'm super duper excited because we're going out to eat tonight either to a.) celebrate his success or b.) eat away our sorrows! I've been up since 5:30 with a sick little boy, I managed to squeeze in my run though. He's been sleeping in my arms on and off today so I think I'll just enjoy the cuddle time while he lets me! 1-8:59 2-8:45 3-8:22 |
| |
| |
I've really been enjoying running lately. I hope that doesn't mean I'm going to get injured!!! 1-8:53 2-8:50 3-9:07 major side cramp the whole mile! bummer. 4-8:43 |
| |
Ran outside, I've loved being out running lately. 1-8:53 2-9:12 3-9:03 |
| |
I love getting my run in before all of my other tasks for the day. I had to be at the church this morning from 8-11 and it was too windy and cold to run before. I was able to squeeze in my run just before the BYU game. It's in the high 50's today and was perfect....a little more windy than I would care for but still very nice! 1-9:07 2-9:08 (stopped and picked up a penny....I always stop and pick up money for Grant's hungry piggy!) 3-8:42 4-8:44 5-8:38
| | 3 miles outside, aerobics, lifted weights for a little while 1-9:31 2-9:09 3-8:44 |
| | Took Grant out in the stroller. He loved it! It's been so nice, I hope it stays that way! Do you ever have those runs where you just keep looking at your watch like every .10 miles? Yep that was today! 1-10:04 2-9:41 3-9:54 4-9:38 |
| |
Nine LOOONG miles pushing Grant in the stroller! Yep the stroller! It was kind of windy...felt a LOT more windy than it probably was! Grant was such a trooper, he was a little sad when we passed by the kids at the playground but nothing a little box of raisins couldn't fix! These times are beyond pathetic but I don't even care one bit! 1-10:17 2-10:01 3-10:29 4-10:25 5-10:33 6-10:48 7-10:42 8-10:50 9-10:16
| | WHY can't I run faster??? Trying to not let that bother me.....but failing miserably! 1-9:17 2-9:00 3-8:50 |
| |
| |
Aerobics this morning...killer and then a 3 mile run on the treadmill. Just signed up for UV MARATHON!!! I feel like I'm about to get struck with knee pain or shin splints now that I just paid all the money! |
| | 2 miles on the treadmill....going crazy so i did the other 3 outside. |
| | I did 7 miles with Grant in the stroller. It took like an hour longer because we had to stop and pet every dog this side of the Mississippi! I saw David's car drive by and decided to run back home and drop Grant off so I could finish the last 3 miles. Can you tell which miles I didn't have Grant? hum....me neither! I wish I could get faster! 1-10:19 2-10:04 3-9:55 4-9:52 5-10:02 6-10:22 7-9:49 8-9:31 9-9:42 10-9:00 |
| | Got up at 6:30 today to make sure I could get my run in before I had to be at the church. It was pretty chilly but it could have been worse. We spent the day at the zoo-we had a great time! 1-9:06 2-8:46 3-8:54 |
| |
| | Had my second interview at 24 Hour Fitness today! I would LOVE the opportunity to work there but they are wanting to hire full-time so I'd be shocked if I actually got the job. Oh well, it will all work out, it always does! Took Grant out for a quick 3 mile run-he zonked out about 5 minutes into it. Lucky for me he is still sleeping in his crib....knock on wood! On my run my ipod pooped out and my Garmin was off a little. I'm planning on lifting/core work tonight and also getting things ready for aerobics this week-new routines! |
| |
| |
Took Grant out with me. He only lasted 3 miles---we passed by a park with lots of kids so of course he wanted to go play instead. David met us at the park and I was able to finish my run while the boys played. 1-9:46 2-9:36 3-10:11 4-9:13 5-8:38 I only had time for 15 mins on the bike tonight.
| | I GOT A JOB.....kind of. 24 Hour wants to hire me but they can't bring me on until June. I could try another branch but there isn't anything terribly close and I really like the gym I originally interviewed with. I might just do my own thing for a while and see what happens when June hits! I'm really excited to get started! 1-9:08 2-8:44 3-8:32 |
| |
| | 1-9:32 2-9:24 3-8:23 4-9:17 5-9:20 6-9:16 7-8:35 |
| | Aerobics, quick run with G in the stroller and then flew to AZ! 1-9:13 2-8:51 3-8:31 |
| | Ran 4 miles while my dad watched the kids at the park. Met up with my sister and ran 1.5 miles then finished the run with my niece. 1-8:20 2-8:24 3-8:25 4-8:11 5-9:39 6-9:03 |
| | We headed up to Reunion as a family for this run. David and Grant played at the park while I ran. I felt like I cheated- I ran 3 miles then took a 3 min break to watch Grant/drink some gaterade, ran 3 more took another break. Got up to 8.5 miles then met up with David and Grant and we drove back to our neighborhood where I finished up. I hurt so bad. That ride in the car made me TIGHT! While on vacation I ate horrible, slept horrible and didn't drink enough water. I feel good about my times today but I wish I wouldn't have stopped so much. I need to start stretchign my hips and hammies more. Oh and tighten up those bun cakes! There is a half this weekend that I would really like to do and see how my pace is. Just woke up from a nap with David. It felt so great to have all 3 of asleep at the same time!!! Off to play..... 1-8:46 2-8:31 3-8:47 4-9:06 5-9:08 6-8:58 7-8:48 8-9:10 9-9:17 10-9:28 (I was a mess these 2 miles!!!) 11-9:27 12-9:03 |
| | HA! I tried to do speedwork today. I have no clue what I am doing;) It was fun to try something different though. I just ran at a fairly slow recovery pace for .5 mile and then tried to run at an 8:00 mm pace for .5 mile. .5-4:27 .5-3:34 .5-4:53 .5-3:29 .5-5:18 .5-3:36 |
| |
| | Felt great on this run! 1-8:43 2-8:53 3-8:52 4-9:02 5-8:51 6-8:24 .2-1:31 |
| | Ugh what a run! Oh how I hate wind!!! I was SSOOO tired and just sluggish. I had to keep stopping and had to walk parts of this run. I'm really hoping this was just a bad run and not a glimpse into how all of my runs will be. 1-10:03 2-9:36 3-10:01 4-9:51 5-10:13 6-10:28 7-9:59 8-9:46 9-10:29 10-10:11 11-10:09 12-10:00 13-10:03 oh well! |
| | Oh wind why must you join me on my runs??? I don't need you for a running partner thank you very much! 1-9:22 2-9:13 3-8:52 |
| |
Glad I got my miles in this morning--it's supposed to rain this afternoon. Aerobics (it was actually a really hard workout today) and some more free weights at home. I wasn't feeling it on my run today. I'm emotionally burned out with running....is that bad? Yes it is:) 1-9:23 2-9:08 3-9:17 4-9:25 5-9:27 6-9:26 7-9:03 p.m. 30 min on bike
| | Did 2 miles with Grant and then met David at home and finished my run. 1-10:19 2-10:04 3-9:14 4-8:50 |
| |
15 min on bike Took Grant out tonight in the stroller. I'm just not feeling it this week. It's been so crazy windy lately! I'm supposed to do 10 miles tomorrow but a part of me just wants to skip this run and stretch the heck out of my hammies. I know, I know that's a horrible choice but it's true. I'm kind of in a mental block right now with a lot of things and I think a few days of rest/crosstraining might help---probably not but it's worth a shot;) 1-10:15 2-10:16 Oh I also lifted at the gym...3 sets of 8 reps for upper body
| | 3 miles before aerobics. Lifted this evening, about 3 sets of 8 for upper body. 5 planks for a minute each. 1-8:50 2-8:36 3-8:11 |
| | David has been getting up and working out in the mornings. It's motivating for me to see him. Yesterday I focused on strengthening my glutes/hips and I felt a lot better on this run. I'm still not as fast I would like but I felt like I could have gone longer and I didn't hurt during this run so that's always a plus! 1-9:16 2-9:06 3-9:14 4-9:16 5-9:16 6-9:27 7-8:47 |
| |
| | Lifted weights this morning and decided to run on the treadmill. I didn't have a scheduled run so I only went a mile and then walked some. |
| | Oh the beauty of running with other people!!! I met up with Carolyn, Michelle, Michelle and Allie this morning for a 14 mile run. I loved having other people to talk with and distract me:) It was fun to be on a new route too! I'm excited to keep running with them. I had to run an extra mile to get my miles in for the week. Grant is napping now I'm thinking that would be a great idea for me too;) 1-10:18 2-9:58 3-9:54 4-9:58 5-9:54 6-9:52 7-9:48 8-10:02 9-9:55 10-10:02 11-9:57 12-10:07 13-10:06 14-9:22 15-9:43 |
| |
| | Nice run this morning-I'm happy with my times. I had aerobics after and now I really need to focus on strengthening my legs/hips/bum. 1-8:48 2-8:15 3-8:35 4-8:04 |
| | My hip flexors are really really sore for some odd reason. Seems like there is always something funky going on with my body! I was able to push out 4 miles-my shins also started hurting a little and that is never a good sign! I'm hoping to go to the gym tonight and lift, we'll see how the night pans out! 1-9:19 2-9:25 3-9:30 4-9:04 p.s. is there anything worse than running in the wind? Yes wind mixed with cold rain! |
| | Crazy week! Ran 3 miles with David. It was SO fun! |
| | 4 miles during lunch. This week is going to be crazy so I hope I can get most of my runs in! |
| | This started out as a decent run but around 7.5 my left ankle just started killing me! We're going out of town tomorrow so I was wanting to get in my long run (12) today but I just had to come home and ice my foot. I'm getting discouraged about this race. 1-9:42 2-9:37 3-9:29 4-9:40 5-9:31 6-9:47 7-9:48 8-11:49 (i walked these last 2 miles) 9-13:51 |
| | This is the first time in about 2 weeks that I went running. I've been dealing with shin splints. Boo. I think it's from when I ran 8 miles, basically on concrete the whole time. They've been a bugger though! I've been riding my bike and going to aerobics still. I think that's helped me to keep my endurance and cardio in check. My run was pretty slow today but I survived and my legs felt pretty good....although I was having knee pain..why in the world that happened is beyond me!
| | I'm SSOOO happy that my legs cooperated on my run today. I have missed the last 3 weeks of long runs so I definitely needed to get this one in. I was supposed to just do 14 but since I missed 18 last week I decided to go 15. I probably should have done more and I felt like I could have. My sil was watching Grant so I felt bad for being gone so long. Still super duper slow but I am trying! 1-9:46 2-9:52 3-9:53 4-9:38 5-9:58 6-10:05 7-9:53 8-9:56 9-9:51 10-10:00 11-9:53 12-9:51 13-10:02 14-10:23 15-9:45 |
| | Went out early today, felt good to get my run over with. 1-10:09 2-9:17 3-9:32 4-9:08 5-8:32 |
| | This is supposed to be my longest week of running-I hope I can do it! I went out for a run this morning and half way through realized I needed to stop by the store for some items for aerobics so I did 2.5 this morning and then the other half during lunch. 1-9:34 2-9:29 3-8:57 4-8:19 5-8:07 I hate some fritos for lunch (gross right?) and I had some heartburn on the run. I really tried to push myself and I'm happy with my times. AP: 8:54
| | Wow I just realized all my dates are wrong for May! I think I entered them in a week earlier than normal. Oh well! I had hopes to run this run yesterday but I was just too tired to get out of bed. It was a chilly morning but made for a nice run. 1-9:29 2-9:41 3-9:33 4-9:37 5-9:28 6-9:22 7-9:44 8-9:15 9-9:24 10-8:55 AP: 9:28 I'm serious about getting my eating back on track! I know, I sound like a broken record! |
| | Went out this morning, kind of a wet run but fairly enjoyable. 1-9:27 2-9:26 3-9:25 4-9:05 5-8:39 AP: 9:13 |
| | Wow, what a crazy run! If I was every a POW I would imagine this is what they would have me do. David, Grant and I all went up to Barr lake. The trail around the lake is 8.9 miles so I was planning on running it twice. Well first off it was too hot for me to be running. I didn't sleep well the last few nights and my eating wasn't in top form either! I was just plain tired! On the trail I saw....6 deer, rabbits, squirrels, a dead duck, a dead skunk, one too many dead birds aannndd......A SNAKE!!! Oh my goodness I probably jumped higher than MJ and about wet my pants! It was huge too! I'm not talking just a little measly stick of a snake, this baby was inches around and looong. Ew! I came within inches of stepping on it. I sprinted like there was no tomorrow. I can't even talk about it without getting goosebumps! Then there was lots of mud, the trail had tons of split offs which just made me confused. Anyway after 12 miles I told David that I wanted to just run on the road back home. He was such a sport and brought me a snack and some more gaterade. I'm really frustrated with training right now. I know there are tons of people that don't ever run 4 miles, let alone 20 but it was just frustrating. I did 17 miles in a row and then David needed to get back to our neighborhood so we drove 15 mins home and I did the other 3 right then. I guess I had a little break. *I hit the lap button so everything is kind of off. I also left the watch running while I tied my shoes or stretched, sometimes I would stop it when I would meet David and grab a drink. 3:32:14 1-9:47 2-9:41 3-10:03 4-9:48 5-10:03 6-9:55 7-10:19 8-9:49 9-9:50 10-9:50 11-10:08 12-10:24 13-10:24 14-11:41 15-10:44 16-11:31 17-11:21 18-12:27 19-11:46 20-11:08 AP: 10:33 |
| | EZ run today during lunch. 1-9:17 2-9:33 3-9:12 4-8:53 AP: 9:18 |
| | Got up early and tried to get in 8 miles, David had to be at the airport by 7:30 so I didn't quite make 8 miles. I am so slow at running! It feels great to get my run in though. I started this "8 week challenge" with some ladies from church. I've been eating much much better and feel great so far! 1-10:32 (spent 30 sec fixing my shoe) 2-9:45 3-9:56 4-9:39 5-9:53 6-9:46 7-9:41 AP: 9:56 |
| |
| | Bad run! I bought some new shoes and I ended up getting a blister during this run-oh it was awful! I had to walk a lot and that worries me about the race. 1-10:18 2-10:16 3-10:33 4-10:32 5-11:03 6-10:51 |
| |
I needed to run 12 but managed 7. My blister is still bothering me and then the weather started to get colder on my run so I came back early. It felt great to run in Craig and see all the pretty green grass and clear skies. 1-9:22 2-9:55 3-8:53 4-9:57 5-9:18 6-9:39 7-9:23 |

| | I planned on getting up at 6 to go running but slept until about 7:45. It was starting to get a little hot on my run and I was very sluggish from not eating anything. 1-9:46 2-9:41 3-9:54 4-9:22 AP: 9:41 |

| | Welp, last long run of the training! Boy oh boy I am NOT prepared for this dang marathon! I didn't stop my watch at all during this run...fixed my shoe, got a drink, fastened my band-aid etc. 1-9:37 2-9:53 3-9:41 4-10:08 5-9:07 6-9:36 7-9:17 8-8:41 AP: 9:30 |

| | I've been wanting to get up and ready for my runs at 5:30 am this week in preparation for the race. Well....I've been hittin' the sack around 11:30 so I've been pushing the snooze button a little more than normal! Yes I have been running about an hour or two later than the marathon start time but at this point I think rest is crucial right? 1-10:16 (fixed my shoe) 2-9:47 3-9:22 4-8:54 AP: 9:35 |
