Personal:
David and I have been married since 2003, we've lived in AZ, UT (BYU, Health Science), WI and now we're back to our roots in CO. We have a little boy, Grant, who was born in 2009. I have never been a runner but like to pretend I am! I'm currently teaching aerobics in my church group and working on becoming a certified Personal Trainer through NASM. I'm pretty much obsessed with Full House, DQ Blizzards and Bajio. Sadly I don't have enough of these in my life! Favorite Blogs: |

| | Ok hopefully this works! Well today was my first "real" run in like 3 weeks. I ran 6 miles at the gym and felt really good and (really sweaty) the whole time. I ran an average 10:10-10:20 mile but managed to finish in 62 minutes. |
| |
| | Today I lifted 3 sets of 10. I usually do arms, legs, abs, back etc. about 2-3 times a week. I also ran 3 miles 10:01/9:57/9:43. I felt really good as if I could run more but I'm trying to stick to my training schedule and don't want to put too much stress on my body too fast. |
| |
| |
Today I ran 4 miles at the fasted pace I have done in like 2 years. I'm starting to think it was a bad idea...my shins are mad at me right now. 9:30/9:06/9:21/9:56. I usually just run on the treadmill because WI is like anti-running trails plus it's just a safety issue. Anyway I want to get out on roads more so that I can train for races. Also I am doing a 5k in July, how do I work on speed without hurting myself? And what is a realistic goal? |
| |
| | Today I lifted 3 sets of 10 and did some deep stretching. David has a softball game tonight and a BBQ after. I plan to walk the softball neighborhood for about an hour. |
| |
| | This morning I ran 5.5 miles on the treadmill at a 10:20 pace. I wanted to stop after mile 2 because my shins were kind of hurting but I decided that they really didn't hurt bad enough to stop. Once I reached mile 3 I felt really good as if I could pick up the pace but I figured I better stick with a slower run and save my legs! |
| |
| | I decided to take the ipod and hit the road for the first time since who knows when. It felt really nice outside and I ran about 15 minutes and then walked for another 20. I'm not sure if I was going faster or slower than I normally do so I'm not quite sure how far I went. |
| |
| | I am super frustrated right now. I just ran 1 mile and about died, my shins are killing me. I decided to train on the elliptical for another 2 miles and that was better but my shins still hurt. I think I'll try to take it easy this week and focus on strength training and biking. Plus my bro's family is coming and I'm sure we'll do a lot of walking around. |
|
| | Today I rode the stationary bike for 9 miles and then lifted 2 sets of 10. Legs are feeling better. |
|
| | Did the Biggest Loser workouts for strength and cardio. 20 minutes each. REALLY good workout. |
|
| | Today I ran 1 mile on the treadmill and did 11 miles on the bike which equals out to about 3 miles of running....I think. It felt good to run again but I didn't want to overdo it with my legs. Maybe tomorrow. I also lifted 3 sets of 10. |
|
| | Ran 2 miles outside in awful humid weather! 20 minute Biggest Loser Cardio DVD. |
|
| | Lifted and then ran 3.5 miles, felt pretty good but REALLY sweaty. It had been getting pretty muggy lately. |
| |
| | Ran 3.5 miles on treadmill at 10:31 pace. |
|
| | 2 20-minute DVD workouts....I was stinkin' up the place! |
| |
| | Got up before work and ran about 2 miles outside. Once again I'm not sure how far I ran but I did go for 22 minutes so I'm assuming it was about 2. It felt nice to get out in the cooler weather. |
|
| | Ran 5 miles on the treadmill...10:31 pace. |
| |
| | Ran 3.5 on treadmill 10:31 pace. Lifted 4 sets of 6. |
|
| | Ran 3.5 miles on the treadmill at 10:31 pace. I picked it up a little right at the end. I think I'm afraid to go faster because last time I tried that my shins started to hurt (and still do) but I also really want to improve my times. |
|
| | 30 minute DVD and 2 mile walk with David. |
|
| | About 2 miles around my neighborhood. It has been perfect weather...a little breezy which is nice for runs. |
|
| | Ran 3.5 on treadmill at 10:31 pace. Lifted 4 sets of 6. |
| |
| | Ran 5 miles on treadmill....first 3 miles at 10:31 pace 4th mile at 10:20 then back up to 10:31 for numero cinco. I felt really good as if I could go faster but I also just want to work on distance for right now. I'm in need of a new computer so that I can download some new tunes to the ipod. I mean I can only listen to CCR so many times. |
|
| | Ran 4 miles on the treadmill 10:31 pace on the first 3 and then 10:20 pace on the last mile. David bought me a bike for my b-day so I'm excited to start riding and I hope that will help keep me in better shape. I'm a little nervous since I haven't been on a bike in the last 16 years! |
| |
| | I successfully rode my bike about 5-6 miles tonight!!! I love it! |
|
| | Ran 4 miles on treadmill at 10:31 pace...last mile at 10:20 pace. Lifted 4 sets of 6. |
| |
| |
Took the new bike out for a spin with hubby tonight. We only did about 4 miles because it was starting to get dark.
I have a long shift at work tomorrow and I'm supposed to do my "long run" tomorrow. I guess if I have to move it back to Saturday that will be fine. I hope to get atleast 1-2 miles in tomorrow night if anything. I'm really wanting to start running everyday. |
|
| |
I worked an 8 hour shift (on my feet) and REALLY did not feel like going for a run. We had dinner plans with friends tonight but I decided to sqweeze in 6 miles before. I'm sure I stunk at Chili's. Anyway the run was awful but I knew I would be happy that I went.
1- 10:31
2-5- 10:20
5-10:00
We have a pretty packed day tomorrow but I'm going to try to get a few more miles in. |
| |
| |
Ran 4 miles on the treadmill
1-3: 10:20
4- 10:00
DVD at like 10:31 pm. Yesterday was my b-day so we had cake and ice-cream today.....kind of defeats the purpose of the whole run! |
| |
| |
I told David that I needed to run 2miles tonight and jokingly I asked if he wanted to come. He said sure so we headed outdoors and ended up running over 3 miles. Our time was 28:37 but I'm not sure what the splits were. It was such a beautiful night and our run felt really fast, it was just nice to run together....I'm hoping we can get out some more. |
| |
| | Lifted pretty hard...4 sets of 6. Ellipitcal for 30 minutes. |
|
| | We headed down to Six Flags today and our ride was picking us up at the time that I normally work out so I had to get up earlier. Thanks to David for waking my sorry bum up and getting me to the gym. 4 fairly hard miles on the treadmill. 10 minute pace which I was pretty pleased with. Tons of walking (and sun) around the park today! |
|
| | 30 minute DVD in the morning, went sailing in the afternoon.....ate a lot of chips so David and I ran a little over 2 miles at night. It is getting hard to get some miles in, I would have thought that the summer would help but we have been super busy! |
|
| |
4.5 miles on the treadmill.
1-2 10:20 pace
3-4.5 10:00 pace |
|
| | Lifted pretty hard today. Ran 4.5 miles on the treadmill....1 mile at 10:10 the next 3.5 at 10:00 pace. |
|
| | Did a 50 minute at home step workout while David and I watched TV. Not the hardest thing but it still worked. |
|
| |
7 miles this morning on the treadmill.
1-4.5- 10:00 pace
4.5-7- 9:30 pace
My knees were kind of hurting but I think I just needed to stretch a little more. I also probably need some new shoes...any suggestions? The run went by fairly fast...I finally got my ipod to work and downloaded some fun songs so that helped. |
| |
| |
Oohh so close to 20 miles for the week.
1- 9:50
2- 9:40
3- 9:31
I felt really good today. It is always nice to do a shorter run after a longer one. David and I went on a bike ride by the lake...we went a little over 10 miles. It was so nice to get out and explore Milwaukee. |
|
| |
Ran 3 miles outside. I tried my nike+ipod but I think it needs some tweeking. It said I ran 3 miles (true) at a 7:23 mile pace (not true). I just can't figure out what is wrong with it. I drove the route and I did 3 miles, next time I need to bring my watch and make sure the times are accurate. Maybe tomorrow.
|
|
| |
Ran 1.7 miles outside until I about died....waayy too hot and in need of water. I don't remember my time but later in the night David and I went to the track to see how accurate my nike+ is. It's a little off so I'll have to fix that but I ran 3 miles (accurate) in 42:24 (accurate).
1- 7:55
2- 8:15
3- 8:32
I'm a little sad that I kept getting slower but I was really happy with my time and how I felt. I'm a big believer in good music and cool weather! |
|
| | 20 minute DVD. I haven't been feeling well lately. |
|
| |
I decided to run out on the track....that only lasted a mile and then I called it quits. It was so hot and muggy outside. I decided to hit the gym and finish my last 4 miles. Wow what a difference air-conditioning is.
1-8:32
2-9:13
3-9:13
4-9:13
5-9:13 |
| |
| | Hour long aerobic class, lifted 2 sets of 12 after. |
|
| |
Got a late start in the morning but went to the gym and ran 8 miles. REALLY didn't feel up to it but knew I would regret going home after 2 miles. Finished strong and felt happy about time and distance.
1-7 9:13
8- 9:05 |
|
| | Ran an easy 3 miles tonight. The weather was perfect. My nike+ is still screwy so I ran until it said 3.75...I'm assuming I did atleast 3 miles. |
|
| |
5 miles on treadmill, we are having some people over for dinner tonight so I'm sure I'll have a lot of junk food! My in-laws are visiting us in a few days so I hope I can sqweeze in a few runs.
1-2- 9:13
2-5 9:22 |
| |
| |
Had an enjoyable 6 miles on the treadmill. I tried to increase the incline and I sure felt that!
1-2 9:13
3-6.2 9:22 |
|
| |
Had the brilliant idea to run to David's work.....ugh! I left for my run at 10:00 and that was way too late in the morning. It was so humid and muggy out plus I didn't have any water for 5 miles. There were 2 really steep hills (ok they aren't that steep) but I was pushin' real hard. Anyway it felt nice to get a run in. I'm not sure my exact splits. |
|
| |
5 miles on the treadmill
1-3 9:13
4-5 9:22 |
| |
| | Ran 2 miles outside. Nice evening run until I lost some of my dinner! Not sure my pace. |
|
| |
5 miles on the treadmill. It has been too humid to run outside (unless I wake up at like 4 or wait to run until like 9 pm). I've also had the problem of needing water during outdoor runs and there really aren't too many places that I know of.
1-2 -9:13
2-5- 9:05
I was feeling really sluggish today but I think I just needed some food or something. |
|
| | One hour aerobic step class. |
|
| | I ran 9 miles out by the lake which I was quickly reminded that I need to run earlier before all the heat and humidity get to me. David rode his bike and was my little "waterboy" which was helpful. My time was 1:19:05 which is a little less than a 9 min mile so I'm improving I guess. Overall the run was pretty good, I just felt sluggish during the whole thing. |
| |
| | I had a late run tonight so I had to go on the treadmill. Boy I was feeling awful but luckily I completed my miles for the day. 1- 9:05 2- 9:05 3- 9:05 4- 8:57/9:05 5- 8:57/9:05 |
|
| |
3 miles on the treadmill. 26:54. lifted light weights. |
|
| | 4 miles around Butler before we headed out to colorado. |
|
| | 3 miles around Craig...HOT! |
|
| | WORST RUN EVER!!!!! I started out too late and in the mountain weather I was dying! I had to have Dave pick me up and take me out to my moms to run on the treadmill. I had to stop and get off every mile. I would lay down and then regain energy. I threw up later that day....needed more water and cooler air. |
|
| | 3 miles on hotel treadmill. |
|
| | 3 miles on the treadmill. I was feeling kind of stiff at the beginning but ended up running the whole thing. 9:31 pace. |
|
| | 5 miles on treadmill....9:22/9:05 pace. Felt good, I'm nervous for the 1/2 marathon because i'm so used to running with a TV to watch! |
| |
| |
I was planning on doing a 10 mile run....somehow it ended up only being 1.5 miles. Ugh! It was way too muggy out. I'm getting nervous about this race and thinking maybe I should train a little longer for a different one. |
|
| | Ran 9 miles outside! I left at like 6:20 am and I was still fairly sticky with humidity. I'm really starting to consider pulling out of this race. Those 2 weeks in Colorado really got to me. |
| |
| |
This morning I was NOT feeling like getting out of bed to run outside (after Saturdays run I was done with running forever!) but luckily it was cool outside and I had some fun songs on the ipod. It was actually one of my favorite runs in a long time. I'm thinking about doing a half marathon next weekend instead of this weekend. Plus there is a concert this Friday night that we want to go to and if I ran on Saturday that would not be a good mix. I hope I can train hard and eat better this week.
|
| |
| | I think I ran a little over 3 miles this morning. I'm planning on doing the half this Saturday because it starts earlier than the one next weekend and with it being so humid here I figure the earlier the better. Anyway the run was good and I'm just trying to find some new music to listen to for the race. Any suggestions? They will have live bands throughout the course but I think I'd like to have my own music to motivate me. |
| |
| | Ran 3.5 miles this morning, I needed to do 5 but I was just weak and not feeling well. Ran 2 miles a few hours later. |
| |
| |
It's been raining ALL day so I did 2 miles on the treadmill at 9:50 pace. It's kind of nice to have an excuse to go slower and shorter. I have a doctor's apt tomorrow so we'll see what he says. |
|
| |
Ran around Butler for about 18 minutes.
|
|
| | Ran outside this morning, it's getting cold outside which is grrreat! I ran about 20 minutes which is a little over 2 miles. I was pretty sleepy but this felt nice. |
| |
| | Had a late start this morning but managed to fit in 2+ miles. My first mile was in 8:44 and I ran a little over 2 so I'm not quite sure what my splits were. I'm feeling pretty good about keeping my distance between 2-3 right now. I had a doctor's apt today and my doc felt that I should just listen to my body and not push myself...I totally agree. Right now my body is telling me to eat more McDonalds and Dairy Queen....I should probably listen right??? |
|
| |
Ran 2 miles. 8:35/9:07. The doctor said I was fine to run again. I'm still going to keep it light. I'm 13 weeks now!!! |
