Long-Term Running Goals:

Run a marathon in 2011 and one day run Boston....I might have to wait until I'm in the 85 year old division to qualify but gosh darn it I will qualify!  

Personal:

 David and I have been married since 2003, we've lived in AZ, UT (BYU, Health Science), WI and now we're back to our roots in CO. We have a little boy, Grant, who was born in 2009. I have never been a runner but like to pretend I am! I'm currently teaching aerobics in my church group and working on becoming a certified Personal Trainer through NASM. 

I'm pretty much obsessed with Full House, DQ Blizzards and Bajio. Sadly I don't have enough of these in my life!

Today was my first run since October. I was a little worried how everything would go since I just had a baby 6 weeks ago. I decided to go slow and extremely easy. My body felt great but my lungs were a little rusty. I figure a mile is still a mile though.

I ran 1.5 miles today while David was home for lunch to watch Grant. It was already really hot and humid and I about died! It was kind of a rough run for me but I still made it, 14:35, not too fast but it sure kicked my butt!!!

It was a little cooler on my run today. I took Grant out for the first time actually running in the stroller. We've always just gone on walks but the doc said his stroller was fine to run with. Wahoo! He just slept the whole way while I huffed and puffed along. I'm planning on doing the 5k on Saturday. Yes I realize I am a slow poke but what better excuse to be slow...just had a baby! BTW pushing a stroller is HARD!

I really didn't feel like getting up this morning (I've been really dehydrated lately....like all month)anyway Grant woke me up so I decided I'd just get out. I'm glad I did! I saw your question about running in the winter on my blog. Well, no real easy answer. I've got it pretty easy here because we don't get snow and even when it is cold it is not terrible. In your case I would suggest wearing layers of clothes better to have too much and then take them off then not enough. As far as running on the snowy roads that can be tricky, lots of time you just have to slow your pace down. That is what we did when I was running in Rexburg in the snow. Have you guys thought about a treadmill? I don't know how much room you have in your house and if you could justify the cost? I used my treadmill some in Colorado, but rarely use it here. I just hate running on treadmills, it would probably help if I had it inside and could watch T.V. or something, but having it in the garage hasn't been that great, maybe I need to get a T.V. out there.

I bought new shoes yesterday! I LOVE them! It was so nice to actually have someone look at my foot and the way I run and to try on about 15 different pairs to find the perfect shoe! This was a really fun race. There was a big turn out too-3,185 people running downtown. I was hoping to run under 45 and I DID!!! I felt like I had too much energy after the race and that I could have pushed myself a little harder in the middle of the run. I was afraid I started too fast so on mile 2 I slowed down and now I'm second guessing that decision. Oh well. I'll be back next year! Oh and it was FREEZING!!!! Poor Grant was an ice cube until David went and bought him some warmer clothes! We're good parents huh? ;) Oh oh I almost forgot....I left my ipod in the stroller. Stink. I had to use 3 different cell phones before I finally got a hold of David to have him meet me on the road somewhere. Thank goodness for music, that's all I have to say!!!!

I finally decided to go for a run outside! It felt great to be out but boy was I tired and not used to the cooler air! It was 20 below with windchill so....I guess it is officially treadmill season. Lots and lots of wet heavy snow too :( 3 miles at 9:13 pace. Felt good, I don't know how to train for a marathon by just running on the treadmill. Maybe I should reconsider.

6 mile run on the treadmill. My stomach started to hurt at mile 2, it was a weird pain but went away and I actually felt great from about mile 4 on. 7 miles on the treadmill. I wanted to stop after 2 but knew that if I didn't run them tonight I'd have to do it in CO while trying to visit family etc. I ended up loving this run and only stopped at 7 because I needed to get home and pack.
