Personal:
David and I have been married since 2003, we've lived in AZ, UT (BYU, Health Science), WI and now we're back to our roots in CO. We have a little boy, Grant, who was born in 2009. I have never been a runner but like to pretend I am! I'm currently teaching aerobics in my church group and working on becoming a certified Personal Trainer through NASM. I'm pretty much obsessed with Full House, DQ Blizzards and Bajio. Sadly I don't have enough of these in my life! Favorite Blogs: |

| | 2 miles on the treadmill. 9:22 pace. I haven't been motivated AT ALL lately and that really bothers me. Hopefully I can shake this attitude soon! |
| |
| | 4 miles on the treadmill. 9:13 pace, last mile I ended at 8:20. My knee was really bothering me and today when I walked to the post office I about died in the cold weather with it! P.S. it is freezing here...boo. |
| | I'm all for people exercising but I sure hate the crowds this time of year! 9:05 pace, last mile was 8:54 and ended with 8:41. My left knee was killing me, soon my whole left leg kind of went numb. I tried to listen to music instead of the tv and that helped to get my mind off the knee pain...and boring tv show. I think I'll just stretch some more tonight. |
| |

Today was my first time running outside in the winter EVER!!! I had a great time! Grant has had a double ear infection so I haven't really been up for taking him to the gym only to have them tell me he is fussy or something so....David was kind enough to watch him (at home) during lunch while I went out. I dressed just right and had to slow down at a few spots so I wouldn't slip on the ice. Man it felt good to be out in the sun and actually decide my own pace based on the song rather than stuck at a certain time on the treadmill while watching the news! I still wasn't that fast but fairly consistent to what I've been doing so that works I suppose. 1-9:21 2-9:36 3-9:18 I'm learning that I have to be flexible everyday with Grant and David's schedules so that sometimes makes it hard for me but as long as the weather/roads stay decent this lunch time run might just work! I can always go to the gym after David gets home but I like to know that I got my run/workout in for the day early on and be able to relax with my boys at night.
| |
| | another run outside today! i had to take off my gloves!!! no knee pain (knock on wood), i'm going to take tomorrow off and just stretch really well. 1-9:19 2-9:00 3-9:01 4-8:52 now i'm off to take grant to the doctor again...darn fever and ear infections :( |
| | 3 miles on the treadmill 9:05 pace. Felt good, my knees are feeling better too! |
| | I was planning on doing 9 miles but my knee hurt pretty bad. It was FREEZING outside so I had to come home and get some warmer gloves around mile 2. I think this is what made my knee hurt-stopping and then starting again. I've been eating HORRIBLE lately-absolutely horrible! I need to get back on track-I think that will help with my running! |
| | 3 nice miles on the treadmill. 9:05 pace. |
| | I'm a little shocked that I went to the gym this morning. Grant was up at 3:30 am...and is STILL up at 9:30 right now! Today is David's 30th birthday and we're going out for dinner so I knew I needed to get my run in early. It feels so good to have it out of the way! 1-9:05 2-9:05 3-9:05 3.5-8:49 3.75-8:36 |
| |
| | I love going to the gym in the morning! The only thing on is the news but I feel like a smarty pants when I come home and tell David something new that he hasn't heard yet! 1-9:05 2-9:05 3-8:49 3.5-8:41 3.75-8:34 I'm trying to follow a running program, I could have gone longer today but I'm trying to stay fairly close with the program. |
| | I DID IT!!! I tried to run 9 miles last Saturday but my knee had other plans, and I was feeling really really frustrated about running. It was a really wet/cold day here so I ran on the treadmill and actually had a great time. I was so happy to get in a good long (for me) run. 1-9:05 2-9:05 3-9:05 4-9:05-I wish I would have pushed myself harder during these miles 5-8:57 6-8: 49 7-8:49- the treadmill stopped after 60 mins and I had to start it up again, my knee hurt pretty bad going from running, nothing, running again...the next two miles weren't my favorite 8-8:41 9-8:41-7:53 -I felt like I could have ran longer but I didn't want to overdo it. I guess I need to pick up the pace next week. |
| |
| | Pretty much ate my run and then some by the amount of oreo's I just inhaled!!! Good thing I have some beef jerky and reese's to wash it down with! Sheesh! Nice short run this morning. 1-8:49 2-8:49 3-8:41 3.5-8:27 Any tips on speed training or intervals? I've never done them before? I guess I should probably just focus on distance but sometimes I get a little bored on the treadmill. Shocker I know! |
| |
| | I did abs yesterday and I sure feel them today! 1-4- 8:49 4.50-8:27 Felt good today and did MUCH better eating too! |
| | Got to the gym a little late so I only had time for 3 miles. I really enjoyed switching up the pace, it went by really fast. 1-8:49 1.5-8:00 2-8:49 2.5-7:30 3-8:49 I feel like my recovery period could have been a little faster, maybe I'll play around with the pace next week. My knee has been feeling great, probably because of the treadmill, hopefully when I get outside it will still be fine. |
| |
| |
10 miles on the treadmill. Overall a good run, I had to stop after mile 5 and stretch and use the bathroom. Remind me NOT to eat deep dish pizza, a Butterfinger, 2 caramel chocolates, 7 miniture reese's cups AND a Twix!!! YIKES!!! Why I ate all of that is beyond me but today is a new day right? Check this out I am out of the 9's!

| | I started out a little too fast, I kept my pace at a comfortable 8:41. 26:50 for the total. Did Biggest Loser bootcamp after and I will probably play the wii for FHE tonight. I still need to get a core workout in today too! |
| | I needed to run 5 miles today but I was JUST NOT feeling it. I managed to get in 4 miles and had to walk a little too. 8:41 pace for the most part, I tried to do some speed work but didn't succeed! |
| | Biggest Loser 'last chance workout' dvd. Wowsers! Did another 30 minute dvd, stretching and core work. |
| | Slept through my alarm which meant I had to bring Grant with me to the gym today. I always feel so rushed when I bring him and I feel bad because they just stick him in a high chair and throw all this food in his face (probably so he'll get big and NEED a gym pass!) anyway the run went well. Things have been super busy this week and I've been baking up a storm for RS meetings, parties, baby showers....I guess that is why I needed to run this week! 1-8:34-8:00 2-8:34 3-8:34 4-8:34-8:00 I wish I would have time to run longer, I felt pretty good today. |
| | The treadmills stop after 30 minutes! 30 minutes!!!! Rather annoying if you ask me! 1-8:34 2-8:34 3-8:34 4-8:34 5-8:20-7:53 6-8:20-7:53 7-8:20-7:03 Felt really good all day. I signed up for an 8k for next Sat, I haven't really ran outside so we'll see what the damage is! |
| |
| |
ALL of the treadmills were being used so I ran around the indoor track. I felt like I was flying! 14 laps=1 mile and do you think I could keep track of how many laps I did? I was within at least 5 I would say. Anyway it was an enjoyable shorter run. Oh and it is dumping snow right now so we'll see how things with the race this Saturday go. I also did the 'Last Chance workout' before going to the gym and then did it again with David after dinner. Worked on core too. |
| |
| | Ran at the gym during David's lunch break. I must have had a big lunch because I was NOT feeling well AT ALL. I was hoping to run 4 but managed 2 on the treadmill, I was disappointed when I got off so I forced myself to run 1 mile (probably more because I get distracted while running around) on the indoor track. I'm getting really annoyed with the 30 minute limit on ALL cardio machines. Ugh! |
| | ouch!!! I went to the gym last night (Feb 11) and now I'm sitting here icing my knees. Bad sign! I was supposed to run 12 but my nike+ was a little off and I ended up only running 11. I didn't realize this until I got home....disappointing. I am going to take today (Friday) off and hopefully the run tomorrow will be ok. |

Steve Cullen Healthy Heart Run (5 Miles) 00:42:48, Place overall: 213, Place in age division: 14 | |
I'm glad I got out and ran this race but I don't think I'll do it next year. I have decided that I really like races that have you start up by your pace rather than everyone just smashed into one line. I basically walked the first .5 mile it felt like. The course was pretty but there were MULTIPLE areas that I was just blocked for long periods of time and couldn't get around people....excuses? Yes, but I still felt like the trail needed to be wider. Also there wasn't a good spot for spectators (who would want to watch a race in the winter???) which made for a boring run! Oh and I did a big no-no and forgot to stop my Garmin so my time was off, I'm just going with the time they posted on-line. It was a really pretty day out and I was glad that the wind wasn't blowing! David, Grant and I went out for a really yummy lunch after so that was fun! 1-8:42 2-8:12 3-8:31 4-8:19 5-8:18 |
| |
| | 8:34 pace. I didn't feel well yesterday and apparently I'm not much better today....I had to get off the treadmill and sit down because I was seeing black spots. I'm glad I got SOME miles in but still a little disappointing. I think I'll try to take a nap and eat a nice lunch today. |
| | I didn't realize the gym closed early on Friday nights so I was only able to get in 5 miles. I played around with the times because I was needing to get out of there faster. |
| |
I am SO bored to tears at the gym. I was hoping to run 13 today and that obviously didn't happen. I think it's a combo of eating too much, and not sleeping enough the past week. Hopefully I can go back tonight and get some more miles in. I am bored on the treadmill and doing 182 laps around the gym just doesn't get me that excited! It's been snowing all day and fairly cold, I think a lot of snow will just turn to ice by tomorrow. I'm hoping for a little motivation to just land on my doorstep anytime now! Ok I just did 5 more, I didn't have time (again) to get in those extra 3 but hey at least I got in some more! 3 on the track and 2 on the tm. 8:27-7:03 pace. My hammies were KILLING me this morning. I convinced David to give em' a little rub but they are still super tight. I'm planning on just stretching stretching stretching all tonight and tomorrow. |
| |
| | I was just planning on running 4 today and 7 in the morning. As I was running I felt amazing so figured I might as well run 7 today and just get it over with, let's be honest I probably won't feel up to running that in the morning! It was a great run on the tm and I feel very energetic. 1-3- 8:27 4-6- 8:13 (a few 7:30 in there) 7-8:00 I also did a dvd workout, light weights and abs. |
| | 1-2.5- 8:20 2.5-4- 8:13 felt pretty good on this run, probably could have gone faster but didn't. i plan on doing some core workouts and light weights today too. hopefully my run tomorrow goes ok-it is supposed to snow so i'm debating if i should run inside or out. |
| | Man I don't know why I have such a hard time with long runs. It was clear out today so I decided to run outside for 13 miles. It felt SO great to be out and my run was very enjoyable until mile 8. I started to get this weird pain on top of my foot. The other day I ran in my old shoes and my ankle/foot kind of hurt a little and when I started out this morning it kind of hurt at first but then was fine...until mile 8. I could barely walk home! I've had ice on it for a while now, hopefully I can get back out and finish those last 5 miles either outside or on the treadmill. I feel like I am constantly finding excuses...bored, knees hurt, too cold, too humid, tired etc. I wish I could run a long run in...well one long run rather than 2 shorter ones. 1-9:05 2-8:52 3-8:55 4-8:37 5-8:45 6-8:48 7-8:53 8-9:03 |
| |
| | Took the day off from running in hopes that my foot will feel better. I did a toning/cardio video and about 10 mins of core. I lifted at the gym and had time to bike for 15 mins. I really enjoyed biking and think I'll probably try to squeeze more of that in my workouts. |
| |
I planned on running 3, 4 if I was lucky...7 it was! I felt great-my shins hurt a little but not too bad. 1-8:20 2-6- 8:13 with 7:03 the last .25 of each mile 7-8:06 with 6:53 on two .25 of the run I'm just icing my foot and shins just to make sure things continue to feel well. Oh the YMCA that I go to doesn't require an appt for kid care anymore and they changed their hours so now I can take Grant whenever he wakes up from his nap and not have to worry about making it to the gym at a certain time. This is GREAT news! He seemed to really enjoy it yesterday and today.
| | Lifted fairly hard at the gym, did 10 min core, 30 min aerobic dvd....iced my shins/foot just for good measure for the rest of the week! |
| | easy TM run. 8:20 pace. i need to stretch stretch stretch tonight! |
| |
| |
Ugh! I swear if I can come up with an excuse to not run well I will! Last week my upper ankle/lower leg was really bothering me and I had a lot of pain with it this week. I decided to run anyway and that proved to be a silly decision! SHIN SPLINTS!!! It felt like my right leg was on fire and about to snap in two! I was hoping for 15 miles but could only manage 11 (12 if you count the mile I walked....which yes I am counting;) This was a very enjoyable run up until mile 9.5 when I had to walk home, stretch, grab a drink and ice ice ice. I was so frustrated with myself and MADE myself get out an finish my 15 miles. *if I can't do these long runs how am I supposed to run a marathon in 8 weeks???* I ran another mile, had to wobble home-stretch/ice, went out for another .25 miles and ended up walking home and calling it a day. I'll have to post my splits when my Garmin turns on.... 1-8:54 2-9:02 (tied my shoe) 3-8:34 4-8:43 5-8:37 6-8:51 7-8:54 8-8:57 9-9:01 (starting to hurt a lot) 10-10:34 (had to walk during the rest of my miles) 11-9:42 12-13:47 p.s. I'm going sugar-free this month. Ok well I get one "splurge" day---honey doesn't count right? I'm not counting it as sugar;)

| | 1 hr Body Pump class at the YMCA. |
| | 40 min toning/cardio workout |
| | 4 miles at 8:20. I wish my shins/foot felt better. |
| | 30 min toning/cardio workout. My shins/foot still bother me. I'm really thinking about bagging this whole marathon idea. |
| |
| | 1 hour Body Pump class @ YMCA |
| | 25 min rowing machine. 2 sets of 8 on weights. |
| | biggest loser workout dvd |
| | Biggest Loser workout, walk around our neighborhood. Legs still hurt pretty bad. I went to the doctor a week or two ago and found out I have tendoitis in my ankle and either really bad shin splints or a stress fracture. I'm still waiting to hear what the x-rays showed. My legs hurt pretty bad though, I got new shoes and learned some moves from the physical therapist. I need to do better at stretching, icing and actually doing the pt moves. My diet has really been affected by my lack of running. |
| |
| | Wow where to start! With our move to CO brought lots of fast-food meals and extra pounds! My legs are STILL bothering me a lot. I'm like 99% sure it's a stress fracture but until our new insurance kicks in I can't be certain. I'm just going to take a break from running for a good long while and focus on other cardio and strengthening moves each day. I tried out the new gym at our complex today but didn't have much time. 10 miles on the bike. It felt good to do something other than eat :) |
| |
| | I've been walking a lot and trying to use the bike (when it is working!) today I decided to TRY to run a little. I only went .25 but it was a pleasant .25! Hopefully I can get back to a good routine here pretty soon. I'm not wanting to push it...obviously! I think they are going to open the pool here soon! Yay!!! |
| | Still not feeling great in my legs but this was a good start. |
| | Today was the first time I ran over a mile in about 11 weeks. My pace was painfully slow but I wanted to make sure I didn't hurt my legs anymore. I felt I could have gone longer but again I didn't want to push it since it's been awhile since I ran last. 10:10 on the first mile and 10:00 for a half mile. Slowly but surely! |
| | Ran on the treadmill at a 10:00 pace. Painfully slow and my legs kind of hurt toward the end but not that bad. |
| | 2 miles on the treadmill. 10 min pace. (I'm terrified to push it!) My legs don't feel great but they don't hurt either! |
| | started at 10:00 pace and ended at 9:20 |
| | Ran on treadmill 10:00/9:22/9:13, legs are still kind of hurting but getting better. I did have to ice them for awhile today. 20 minute bike ride and long walk with the fam. |
| |
| | Right lower leg kind of hurt but not too bad. 9:50/9:40/9:22 Rode the bike for 10 mins, plan on another 30 later tonight. |
| |
9:40/9:31/9:22 shins kind of hurting but not too bad. after my run i soaked them in the freezing pool which felt great! |
| | first run outside in colorado! 9:34/9:08. legs felt pretty good. 30 min bike ride. |
| | This is the longest I've ran outside since my legs started hurting. They actually felt pretty good during the run-I hope they continue to be ok. I was pushing Grant in the stroller so I was a little slow! 1-10:47 2-10:19 3-10:10 .5-4:58 |
| | Ran outside, felt good-felt really really slow but good. Took Grant to the park after our run. He does great in the stroller but I think it's fun for him to get out and run around too. 26:00 |
| | rainy out so i ran on the treadmill before david left for work. 9:31 for 1.5 and then 9:13 to finish it off. legs feeling pretty good. |
| | This is the longest I've ran since my legs started bothering me in March. We drove up to a trail about 10 minutes from our house and must have left too late because boy was it hot! David even ran a little while pushing Grant in the stroller. I wanted to quit at 2 miles but David was good at encouraging me and I'm glad I was able to continue. They walked around while I finished and we noticed that Grant's shoes were missing-not an easy task to find but we manged to locate both of them (in different spots of course!) so that was nice. I soaked my legs in the pool after and so far they are feeling good. 1-9:31 2-9:16 3-9:31 4-9:09 oh I had to stop at mile 2 to get a drink and find motivation, then again at 3.5 to fix my ipod. |
| |
| | pushed grant in the stroller. 10:39 |
| | 28 mile bike ride to downtown Denver |
| | ran with grant in stroller 10:01 |
| | 10:26, 10:41 pushing Grant in stroller |
| | only had time for 1 mile. 10:00 pushing grant. |
| | went on a family walk for 2 miles this morning and then i ran another 3 WITHOUT the stroller. it was so nice! 9:18 8:53 8:36 i originally planned on running 2, then 2.5 and finally decided to 3 would be it! legs felt good. |
| |
| |
We went up to Craig for a few days. The elevation is a little higher and there were some hills toward the end of my run. I was really dreading doing this run but felt great after. 1-8:58 2-8:48 3-9:05 4-9:23
| | Ran around Cleveland UT and had 2 random dogs run with me! The town basically has 2 streets but I somehow managed to get lost! 1-9:17 2-8:57 3-9:16 |
| | walked 2 miles this morning with david and grant. they came home and i ran another 2. it was getting pretty warm out already and i must have not had enough for breakfast because i was just sluggish, still happy i went out though! 1-9:18 2-9:02 |
| | Felt super sluggish today. I'm supposed to run 5 miles tomorrow, I think I need to wake up earlier and head out before it's too hot! 20:40 Went to a little b-day party at the park today, Grant would rather run around by himself than play with the kids on the slides and swings. I guess I can understand that! The only time he was close by was when they busted out the cupcakes! Once again, I think I can relate! |
| |
| | This was a bad run from the beginning. My garmin wouldn't start up very good so that put me back a few minutes. I was having stomach issues most of the run and actually had to make a stop in McD's! My left knee was starting to hurt around 3.5 and I had to walk .10 on the last mile. I felt tight and sluggish during most of the run. I always seem to have too high of goals and end up not being able to train. ex. I want to run a 10k in a few weeks and a half in Oct but I'm realizing that maybe I'm not quite ready. I wish I could fly to CA or some place warm during Nov/Dec because I think I could run a race during that time. Oh well, I'll just keep trying to do my best and listen to my body. 1-9:48 2-9:38 3-9:38 4-9:39 5-10:27 |
| |
| | Oh I love that the temps are cooling down and fall is on it's way!!! I took Grant with me this morning so David could try to sleep some more. I set out to do 3, somehow got a little lost and ended up doing 3.5. Once I could see I was still a little ways from home I decided that since I felt fine I should try for 4 miles. It was an enjoyable run-even though my earphones are busted so I basically could only hear the bass line and back up singers of each song. I hate spending money to replace things I already own. Oh well, it's worth it to have music to distract me right? 1-10:15 2-10:32 3-10:10 4-9:54 Will I ever get faster??? Ugh! My right shin was acting funny around 2.5 but then felt fine again. Weird. When we got home David and I did our new workout dvd. BL Last Chance Workout. It's tough but I love it! |
| | I set out to do 2 with the hopes of 2.5, I ended up running 3. I felt pretty good. Oh and my earphones are busted so I had to run with David's. Looks like I'll be making a new purchase today! 1-9:14 2-8:43 3-9:00 WHY can't I get faster??? I think part of it is that I'm nervous that I will get injured trying to gain speed. Silly? |
| |
| | Woke up early and got my run in. It feels so nice to just have it done and out of the way. David was awake too so it was nice that he was able to watch Grant and I didn't have to push that jumbo stroller. This was a difficult run for me to get into. I'm not sure what was wrong- tired/hungry/thirsty etc. I've been wanting to run a race but it's days like this that make me think I need more of a solid base to start with before I really train. Maybe by this fall I'll feel ready for something, as of now I just want to enjoy running rather than feel like I have to get out there. 1-9:01 2-9:05 3-9:08 3.10- 28:09 |
| |
| |
Cool morning, starting to really feel like fall. I'm trying not to get frustrated with my times but I just wish I could get into the 8's! 1-9:07 2-9:10 45 minutes on stationary bike
| |
Late start today but overall a very enjoyable short run. I had more energy today, I think eating breakfast and the 2.5 mile family walk before my run really helped. 1-9:05 2-8:38 HAPPY BIRTHDAY DUSTIN!!!!
| |
| | I'm realizing how much I like to eat breakfast before a run! I also see why a warm-up is important. This run was actually really enjoyable. I have two walking routes that I combined to make a 5 mile route. Around mile 4 I felt like I could probably run 6 miles. My left shin started to hurt at 4.75 but not to the point I couldn't finish. I decided to just stop at 5 and have an enjoyable run rather than force myself to complete 6 miles. 1-9:20 2-9:27 3-9:14 4-9:11 5-9:01 I also did a 20 minute toning dvd and 40 mins on the bike. |
| | Beginning to feel like fall! Kind of a late start but these cooler temps made it doable. Still not too fast. 32:09. I'm needing some new shoes, I need extra support so I always end up getting the exact same pair. Oh well! 1-9:27 2-9:21 3-8:55 |
| | This is the longest I have ran since Feb/March. I was really wanting to just bag this run and do it tomorrow but I knew I would feel good if I just did it today. What a cold cold morning, it felt great! I was kind of disappointed with my times, I never know if I should push harder or slow my pace and be able to run longer, I did feel like I could have kept going for another mile or so. I guess I'm nervous of getting injured. Back in 2004 I ran the Freedom Festival 10k in 54:07 (and I thought that was slow!) and then I'm not sure what my time was in 2005. Today was the first time I timed myself and I did it in 58:29 so that was a little frustrating. Oh well. I guess it gives me something to work on. 1-10:13 (i stopped and tied my shoe with the clock running....i'm sure that took AT LEAST 3 minutes!) 2- 9:28 3-9:16 4-9:34 5-9:35 6-9:30 |

| | Late start this morning (thankfully it is cool enough out!) so I had to push Grant in the stroller. I ran 3.5 miles over to the park that our playgroup was at today. Grant fell asleep for a little while but woke up once he heard all of his friends. We walked another .50 miles home. I went to a strength training class yesterday and oh man I am feeling it today! My whole body is sore!!! 1-10:39 2-9:26 3-9:58 |
| | Walked 2 miles with the fam, then ran 2 more. Legs (and my whole body) still feel tired and tight from Tuesday. 1-9:23 2-8:55 |
| | Grant and I spent the weekend at my parents. I decided to try my 6 mile run on their dirt road. The elevation is higher and there were a few hills but I managed to complete it and actually really really enjoyed the run. 1-9:09 2-9:58 (hills!) 3-9:38 4-9:32 5-9:51 (hill) 6-8:04 I need to start pushing my pace a little (ok a LOT) more! 59:08 |

| | Ran around Reunion while pushing Grant. Nice cool morning. Kept the pace slow, not sure why but I am scared to try running faster for fear of an injury. 1-10:52 2-10:35 3-10:19 4-10:22 |

| | Went running with my friend Miriam today. It was good to have somebody there to push me a little more. It's hard to run. It's hard to run while talking. It's hard to run while talking AND pushing a stroller....in the snow, uphill. 1- 10:09 2-9:34 3-10:05 .57-5:17 |

I needed to run 7 miles today but I've had a hard time sleeping the last few night so my body was just wiped out! I'm hoping to run either tonight or in the morning. 1-9:40 2-9:38 PM- Went out to start and finish my 7 miles. This was a killer run for me. My shins were hurting off and on until about mile 4.5 and then they ended up being fine. Around mile 4 I saw a man watering his lawn and I stopped and asked if I could take a drink from the hose-I realize that's weird but I was really thirsty! I'm very disappointed with my times but I'm happy that I was able to get out and finish this run. 1-10:03 2-9:48 3-9:58 4-9:58 5-10:28 6-10:39 (ugh) 7-10:06

| | Didn't make it out for a run today but hiked a 14er with David so I think that is blog worthy! Killer workout! |
| | I needed to run yesterday but my legs were still tired from Saturday's hike. It was a cool morning today-perfect for a run. My right shin and left knee were bothering me just a little but nothing too bad. Major stretching today. I'm hoping to ride the bike for a little while tonight too. 1-10:53 ( I had to tie both of my shoes) 2-9:54 3-9:30 4-9:14 .5-4:36 |
| | I did it! It wasn't pretty but I did it! My hammies were tight most of the run and I felt like I was hunched over a lot. I had to stop back home and use the bathroom at mile 4 and then mile 8 I was having major side aches the whole time. I didn't have enough to drink yesterday and my eating hasn't been very well. I need to stay focused and be better about what foods go in my body. I'm having a hard time pacing myself. I always have extra energy after runs, which is good but I just feel like I could run faster, yet I'm nervous about starting out too fast and not being able to finish. 1-10:05 2-10:29 (stretched) 3-10:13 4-10:03 5-9:59 6-10:26 7-9:44 8-10:21 |

I was able to go running with Dustin. He ended up doing 10 and I managed 4. It was fun to run with someone and he had some great stories to tell. We ran 2 up to the top of a hill and then he kept going while I turned around. I ended up walking a little on the way back to my parents but I fel pretty good overall.

I had a rough weekend of throwing up and just feeling weak. I missed yesterdays run so I knew I needed to get out there today. I was planning on running 3 and seeing how I felt. I ended up doing 5 and felt like I could have ran more or picked up the pace or something. I love the changing weather! Still not fast, my legs are just so darn tight, but at least I was able to get out and run. I'm trying really hard to eat good this week! Hum maybe I should rethink that caramel apple sitting on the table;)

This run felt really good. I mapped it out last night which helped a lot-I usually waste time just running around random streets so this was helpful. Slight slight pain in left knee and shin but ended up feeling fine. Time to stretch stretch stretch!!! 1-9:44 2-9:34 3-9:52 4-9:46 5-10:30 (tied my shoe....with frozen hands!) 6-9:35 7-9:42 8-9:28 9-8:43 (woohoo) total: 1:27

| | I love that 5 miles feels like nothing! I mean it's still hard but I don't feel totally overwhelmed by it anymore! 1-9:25 2-9:43 3-9:21 4-9:28 5-8:42 |

| | Ate a bunch of junk and didn't feel like running. Took Grant in the stroller for '2' miles, he was acting so good that I went 3, then 4, then 5. Good thing he was having fun or else I would have stopped earlier than 5! Saw a pet turtle when we got home, he loved it! 1-10:03 2-9:49 3-10:01 4-10:10 5-10:06 |

| | I knew this wasn't going to be a good run from the beginning of the day! I needed to run 10 miles but as soon as I woke up my body was just tired and sore for some reason. I decided to just sleep instead. Around 2 pm I thought I would go out for a run tonight. My shoes were kind of bothering me as I started and during mile 3 I was having some chest pain that forced me to walk. It was starting to get dark and I was just tired and heavy feeling. I managed 4 miles and I'm actually ok with the fact that I probably will not get a long run in this week. Tomorrow I'm going to Winterpark with some friends for the night and then Saturday I am busy with ward parties and such. Hopefully I'll have some time and energy to get in a good run tomorrow morning. I doubt it though, I'm eating ice-cream tonight:) 1-8:58 2-9:39 3-9:44 4-10:36 |
| | Got my 10 miles in....it wasn't pretty but at least I made it to double digits! I ran 8 by myself then came back at picked up Grant in the stroller for the last 2. I was having some pretty annoying chest pain, the same as last night. I had to walk part of the way but I'm counting it! Just ignore the super slow poke times! 1-9:58 2-9:57 3-10:17 4-10:23 5-10:03 6-9:49 7-10:17 8-11:07 (walked some) 9-11:41 (walked some) 10.6-10:47 |

| | I'm not sure if it's the weather or what but my knee started aching about the last .5 mile and I ended up walking most of the way home. Hopefully it will be fine for the race on Sat. 1-9:29 2-9:06 3-10:38 |

Halloween Half (13.1 Miles) 02:03:40, Place overall: 1220, Place in age division: 139 | | I've been looking forward to this race for a while. It went better than I thought in some ways and worse in some ways. According to my training I was shooting for 2:10. Really I was wanting to break 2:00 but I knew that was impossible. I ended up running 2:03 and I'm fairly confident that I could have broke 2:00 but I had some *ahem* issues come up. Also my hips and legs were really tight and I had to pull over and stretch TWICE! Overall it was a fun race. I loved being in Provo again and running through the canyon. The weather was perfect and I saw some friends and also ended up running with an ex-boyfriends sister for most of the race. Random but fun. I'm fairly certain that the course was off because my garmin (and others) said 12.80. Oh well I'm happy with that! 1-9:27 (this was actually 8:27 because I walked for the first min due to how they had us line up) 2-8:24 3-8:09- felt good even though I was talking the whole time 4-8:29 5-8:39 6-9:25- Brenda and I kind of lost each other and my legs were super tight and aching 7-9:44 8-9:51 9-10:06- needed to find a restroom, felt like walking but kept going 10-10:20- yep still needed to find it 11-10:23- found one and waited and waited and watched the time pass.... 12-10:01 13-9:33 - just wanted to pass as many people as I could It was a busy race but I'm really happy that I did it. Yes I am super sore and walk like an ostrich but that's ok! |
| | Took Grant out for a run in the stroller. He fell asleep about a mile into it and then I got a flat tire. Major bummer!!! They sure make flat tire strollers hard to push! 1- 9:47 .78-7:39 |

| | Ran during lunch today. Windy but nice. 1-9:25 2-8:52 3-8:48 .10-00:52 27:58 |

snowy run this morning. i'm going to start teaching aerobics to the r.s. in the next few weeks and i'm excited to be able to have something to keep me in shape now that it's getting colder. hopefully i'll still be able to run but man oh man do i hate the treadmill! 1-9:36 2-9:37 3-9:24 4-9:12 |
| | Decided I'd better start running outside before it gets too icy and cold. The temp wasn't that bad today but the ice was fairly annoying. I just have to go slower but I think I should be able to run for a few more weeks. 1-9:39 2-9:43 3-9:49 |
| |
| | Nice cool morning, infact I had to take my gloves and ear warmer off! I can handle is "no snow" stuff! 1-9:13 2-9:30 (my right calve started hurting but I'm glad I kept running-it started feeling better) 3-9:25 4-9:12 |
| | Was hoping for 5 miles but the bacon cheeseburger had other plans. 1-9:39 2-9:56 3-10:11 |
| | Average run, not too hard but I felt sluggish and heavy. 1-9:45 2-9:20 3-9:06 |
| |
| | Wow I felt fantastic on my run today! I completely shocked myself and ran 6.2! I was hoping to do 5 and what do ya know I managed 6....no big deal! I love that it hasn't snowed yet...sure it's pretty and festive and all but let's be honest running in the snow/ice just isn't the greatest idea. And running on a treadmill....yikes! Anyway I'm starting up aerobics at the church in a couple weeks so I've been brewing some ideas and working on that a lot lately. I've also been busy with studying personal training stuff, hopefully that continues to go well. Slow and steady wins the race... 1- 9:38 2-9:43 3-9:30 4-9:26 5-9:34 6-9:24 6.2=58:58 |
| | Chilly morning, I was afraid my nose was going to blow right off in the wind! It feels so good to run in the morning though, I've noticed my days just go so much smoother and that I have more energy. It's been snowing on and off today, I'm just trying to enjoy the time I have outside while I can! 1-9:45 2-9:49 3-9:10 |
| | Just not feeling it today. We all got minimal amounts of sleep last night. I've been working on aerobics stuff a lot the last few days. I'm hoping to ride my bike some today and then go to walking group tonight. 1-9:34 2-9:32 |
| | I brought Grant with me today. It was a warmer day out so I think he enjoyed it. We're planning on meeting some friends at the park today so I didn't have a lot of time to run. I accidentally pushed some wrong buttons on my garmin so I'm not quite sure what my times were. 2= 21:05 |
| | Trying to take advantage of the clear roads before winter really hits! Felt a little sluggish most of the time but just happy to be out doing something healthy. My right shin kind of hurt but felt better as the run went on. I still can't believe it's December! Working on aerobics stuff today and then walking group tonight. 1-9:56 (blah) 2-9:29 3-9:34 4-9:26 |
| | Just enough time for a short 2 mile run. 1-9:41 2-8:54 |
| | I can't believe how warm it is! I took Grant to the park today and considered taking off his coat! I'm loving this, it doesn't feel like Christmas which is a bummer but I'm happy with the fact I can still get out! 1-9:42 2-9:15 3-9:05 |
| | Windy windy run today. It felt good to get out but man I sure felt sluggish and tired. I've been really enjoying my PT stuff (if only I could eat like a real personal trainer!) and I'm hoping all this new info will help me run and train better. 1-9:36 2-9:37 3-9:20 4-9:33 5- 9:25 |
| | Let the marathon training begin. Well hopefully! I'm wanting to attempt the SLC marathon in April...just trying to figure out the money and travel issues....ah I'll worry about that later. I felt strong on my run today. It's weird how on my "sluggish" days and my "strong" days I still manage a poor pace. Such luck!Temps in the 60s and a little windy towards the end but I really enjoyed being on the snowless streets! I'm going to look at running shoes this weekend, holla! 1-9:40 2-9:33 3-8:54 |
| | Day 2 of training. Felt better about my run today. I need to focus on my eating habits. I think that's part of the reason I am not as fast as I'd like to be. 1-9:34 2-8:52 3-8:35 |
| | Today was a busy busy day so I decided to push my run back to tomorrow. My father in-law came into town earlier than expected today and offered to watch Grant while I went running. Good thing-it was FREEZING outside. Windy and the sun was starting to go down, bad combo! I felt like I needed to hurry and get back before the little spawn destroyed too much. I actually really enjoyed this run. 1-8:30 2-8:58 3-8:19 26:35 |
| | Shopping spree in the Luke household! I went an bought a new pair of running shoes. I'm kind of debating my choice but hopefully they'll be okay. I got some New Balance running shoes....we'll see. We also bought a new camera that was a steal of a deal! I'm pretty excited to actually be able to take pictures of my little runner himself! On to the run...my shins started to hurt (wearing my old shoes) around 4.5 so I stretched for a little and they seemed to be fine. I wish wish wish I could get faster. I'm just glad that I'm not totally wiped out when my run is over. I think I'm nervous to speed up for fear of injury. Anyway here's to week 1 of my marathon training! 1-9:06 2-9:13 3-9:33 4-9:11 5-9:32 6-8:38 |
| | Tried out my new shoes. I really like them! I can't get over this awesome Dec weather! 1-9:31 2-9:01 3-9:04 |
| | cold run today! 1-9:21 2-9:13 3-8:52 |
| | I don't have my splits. This run felt good. The bottom of my left foot was kind of hurting so I had to keep adjusting it. |
| | Ran on the treadmill at our apt. I wish there was a fan in there or something. Overall it was fine. |
